Rewrite #2

- Hi guys! Welcome back to my blog, today I will discuss my thoughts on how on how the medium is the message by Folding ideas, the Cambridge analytic scandal explained by The guardian, how dark patterns trick you online byNerdwriter1.

-How medium is the message:

- Medium is the message relies on the extension of ourselves, the fundamental scale is dictated by the shape of the medium.

- This begs the question, does it related to media ethics?  In my opinion, yes it does. The way our literature is used online is limited such as Twitter when making a tweet there's a limit on how many words you can do which changes how peoples usage on language can impact the media bringing sensitivity into the conclusion. The way we communicate is "the medium changes the fundamental scale" as over time we begin to not go to social events, the way we navigate day by day is all down to the medium defining our judgements.

- In my opinion this has affected me day to day as I use media to get my daily news and reconnect with friends but it has changed how I socially gather as we all communicate online and create calls to play games. But my use of media shaped my literacy as it has negative connotations depending on where I say it differently compared to reality.

- In conclusion, Media ethics relates to the medium is the message as its the fundamental scale that changes our interactions.

- The Cambridge Analytica scandal explained:

- The Cambridge Analytica scandal surrounds the usage of online users date to change the mass behaviour.

- Christopher Wylie exposes Alexander Nix of how apps like Facebook have special permission to extract data. This data can go as far as into your friends list and further expose more online users data.

- The "special permission" is seen as a "full service propaganda machine" as propaganda is used as more of a bias and misleading content to persuade viewers from what actually is happening. In this case extracting data.  by Christopher Wylie in which I agree with.

- In my opinion, using propaganda in this scenario is a tactic we should all look more into as big corporate companies can be very broad with the use of your data and we need to highlight this more often to make formal decisions on our time on the internet to ensure we aren't just slaves to these corporations and to make sure our information is more transparent.

- Does this relate to Media ethics to me personally? yes but it conflicts with one of the aspects of media ethics such as autonomy. The use of freedom is limited but data is being harvested without an acknowledgment  of the user. The use of propaganda is a major effect out of this in which results in media ethics to provide some form of view.

In my opinion, this affected me personally as this violated my right of knowing what and where my personal use of data goes to. I encountered many times from my own conversations being watched and used against me to spread advertisements based on what the topic I was talking about on Facebook.

- In conclusion The Cambridge Analytica scandal does relate to media ethics by propaganda but follows suit of going against the autonomy.

- How the dark patterns trick you online:

- Dark patterns is used in every website to guide the user into something they might not want to go.

- An example would be Amazon. Amazon is one of the giant masses of online shopping in which to use you need to make or log in to an account. The reason I'm mentioning this as to deactivate the account you need to go through loop holes of ui interfaces which is purposely designed to lead you off of where you want to go to then enforced it by an Amazon associate that they are the only ones that can deactivate your account.

- Colour in websites is a tactic to lead you where they want you to go for example, a game says start in blue and going through a game its always blue then change the title of start to buy but still in blue it will not phase the user to press buy as its blue which brings me back to the start blue. Its a way to blind the user to get money or data on the user.

- Does this relate to media ethics? yes as it deals with an image or text that goes against the user for more information on that user.

- In my opinion, this tactic of a loop hole has affected on amazon.uk personally. After trying to cancel my prime or delete an old account I have to go through a lot of links to end up not being satisfied and giving up as they designed it to side track you from doing so.

- Conclusion overall:

- In my conclusion, all sources listed are in fact are related to media ethics in all in my own thoughts.
